Lots of hype around this dram. Haven't heard anything bad about it. Thought it was too good to be true. Saw it at the bar tonight and ordered a pour much to the Mrs.'s chagrin, but it was worth it. Believe the hype.
I've had most of the entry level peated drams out there, but never have I tried something so flawlessly integrated. The interplay between the peat, the malt, and the smoke are a sight to behold. This malt does for peated whisky what Glendronach does for sherry'd whisky. It's just that good. I didn't get any of those rubbery, medicinal noes some folks get, just a lovely, thoughtfully made, peated dram.
I told myself that I wouldn't buy any new bottles this year until I've worked through what I have open (which is an ample amount). Once I'm through those, this is the first thing I'm buying and doing a head to head with Talisker 10 to see what my favorite peated dram is. Cheers!

Glad you liked it! Doing a SBS with Talisker 10 is a great idea. I'll have to pull my bottles out and give it a shot too.
Very nice review - my sentiments as well. I am a sucker for things from Campbelltown this one is (for a 10 y/o) a very interesting and well layered dram. thanks for your review
12 yr is where it's at for me. This one just didn't hit me quite right! Cheers!
I will have to get this soon as well....great review
I've never tasted a Springbank, Hazelburn, Longrow or Kilkerran I did not like and their whiskies get almost exponentially better with longer maturation. Also, I've never had a Springbank that did not change as the bottle level decreased, and always for the better.
I also made a new year’s resolution to buy no new bottles in 2020, which was promptly broken on Jan. 1st. :)
You might be able to get samples of the 12CS, 15, and Kikkerran—avoiding buying a full bottle
A quality dram! Try Kilkerran too if you haven’t already.
If you like this try the 15 year. My personal favourite. It epitomises Springbank for me..very very 'funky'. Not to everyone's taste but I love it
It's good. Try the 12 year Cask Strength if you can get your hands on it too. You won't be disappointed.
