Ok firstly apologies to anyone I haven't responded to..comments and notifications are all over the place at the moment so I can't really track stuff.
Also as I'm struggling with app functionality its most likely that reviews here on in will be shorter and sweeter (until the app is more stable) which given Dramfest is around the cnr is a probably a good thing....anyhow onto the dram.
Firstly thanks @cascode! I didn't realise but I had tried the dram previously but not too sure if new or older discontinued stock hence 2nd review. This is the older pre 2017 stock apparently. In summary very nice. Solid 3.75 to 4, viscous rich almost Mortlachy in a way. Ethanolly short finish detracts but definitely one to try.

@jonwilkinson7309 Yeah, i'm definitely happy to pay, I have had loads of value out of it!
Hopefully the new revenue sources will allow for some upgrades. I've actually wondered in the past how the site was being monetized.
@AntonioSchmid Yeah 100% agree. Desktop is just not the same as its not like you walk around with one in your pocket all the time!
@Soba45 I’ve been struggling with the app as well, specially with the feed. Almost impossible to use. I have been using it less and less as currently it must be the less user friendly app on my phone.
@WhiskeyLonghorn Yeah sadly casual scrolling is now the main pain point for me! To get people 'sticky' in their usage you need to make things as frictionless as possible and this is anything but!
@PBMichiganWolverine Ok it's letting me scroll more than one page of comments this morning so I got to read yours..bonus! Yeah i'm not sure how it's going to pan out, it's interesting to know alot of the main free users here have cut back on their app usage over time. Surely they can run usage stats around that and feed into their decision making process....
Just to be the contrarian here—-yeah, the phone app has stability issues. But I can imagine the costs being high to maintain as well—-the weekly content spread across different spirits, the expert reviews, and then of course technology. I’m glad to see it producing revenue (ad + fee), and that might be the right direction now for another company to take over and, yes, monetize it, but put in the investment as well.
@Soba45 I’ve had a hard time with the app too. I’ve taken to writing my reviews on the desktop and just casually scrolling on the app. It crashes on me all the time...
@Ctrexman it was great, then the comment loading got really slow with one release, they were working on a fix apparently and then next release made it even worse for me...I just don't know why in trying to fix stuff they make stuff worse!
I can usually get through 5-6 pages on desktop. The phone app must be much worse as I havent had nearly the issues you describe
@Ctrexman Yeah it sucks when you feel like you are essentially a captive audience....lucky your review was on first page of comments otherwise i wouldn't be able to reply! Amazing only randomly and infrequently will comments now load for me past the first page!
I mean there are true critic level reviewers here as well as people like myself more average joe drinker who like to describe what they taste
I like the graphics and listings these type of sites provide. reddit is just posts of reviews and from what ive experienced not great content. The quality and quantity of reviews and overall community here is tough to beat
@Ctrexman Ah interesting. I'm wondering if a reddit substream or something is the way to go. Bit more work but stable and free format and you get the community experience
yes I came from proof66 which has threatened to close the site and has actually been down for days multiple times. The format there was easier but there was no support or updates. Im still on the site but dont think it will last much longer....they have been around since 2008. This site is not as user friendly but has up to date bottles and much more traffic making it the best choice I have seen
@geologyjane Cheers and likewise! Ah yeah I've emailed @mikael about this. It's sad as great community and at one point it was heading in right direction. A number of people are just not posting as frequently or at all. Not sure what is going on. Growing pains?
@Soba45 - I’ve definitely noticed a lot of stability issues with the app recently. It’s making it so difficult for me to use, I may have to resort to the desktop version. In any case, thanks for still finding a way to share your thoughts with us!
@Ctrexman Out of interest you migrated from another site recently I believe? You came here because? The reason I ask is i'm in to understand what is in the mkt place
@Ctrexman Yeah came for the tracking of what I was drinking and kept coming back for the friendships. Who knew I'd be receiving whiskey samples from the USA courtesy of @PBMichiganWolverine and trading samples with @cascode in Aussie!
No worries Soba, this type of website is supposed to be for fun and drinking comradery with some sharing of knowledge
