Macallan Rare Cask

Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland

Reviewed February 26, 2015 (edited July 30, 2017)
4.0
4.0 out of 5 stars
The first fill sherry casks shows up at the onset. This is a classic example of a good single malt. The biggest downside (and hence the four starts instead of five) is the price. For a NAS single malt, and close to $400, you can do better (think almost 2 bottles of Yamazaki 18 or 3 bottles of Highland Park 18)

funny...one year ago when I first got this, the Yamazaki was $180, while this Macallan was $400. Now the Yamazaki 18 is more like $500, and this Macallan is more like $300-350. So much for " you can get 2 bottles of Yamazaki 18 instead of this". In retrospect, kicking myself for not following my own advice.
