John J Bowman Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Virginia, USA

Bottled in 2017.
This is close to a perfect bourbon that doesn't get enough love. It failed to sell out at my local store despite a “highly allocated, one per customer” label.
This whiskey is incredibly balanced and smooth. It is very smooth with sweet cinnamon and vanilla; yet it is balanced against undeniable dark chocolate, leather, and oak. This is an NAS bourbon, but it tastes like it’s been aged for 8+ years. This whiskey is on par with Four Roses Single Barrel, and absolutely worth the price of admission.

@jonwilkinson7309 Not sure why there is the variation. This one is close to Four Roses Single Barrel in profile. I found it more interesting because it was leathery-er.
Great review! I'm going to have to give this one a try. It's interesting to read through the reviews on this one - wide variations. Some say super sweet, others say hot and spicy.
@ScotchingHard nice review. I’ve looked at this one often, but have yet to give it a go. This, the Small Batch, and the port finished versions are some of the few Sazerac products readily available in my area.
@BDanner I stand corrected. Correction made. Thanks!
While a VA company, this bourbon does begin life at Buffalo Trace in KY before it is tankered and shipped to Bowman for another pass through the still and is then barreled and aged on site.
