Neat. A little heat on the nose on a fresh bottle. Base fruity notes. Reminds me of fruit cocktail, syrupy peaches, pears, a hint of banana, slight mint and musty barrel. Lots of pretty rye flavors. Caramel, Those fruity notes from the nose, stick around, plus some oak, char, allspice, rye grass, hint of vanilla. Each sip seems to bring something new. The finish has some caramel sweetness, cinnamon, oak tannins, and some building burn. The alcohol and medium light mouthfeel and the finish keep it from being cloying.
Overall a very nice drink, especially for the price and readily available. Great place to start if you want to see if rye is for you, as it is a 'barely legal' rye at 51%
