Well I think GD is one of if not the best 12 yr sherried scotches. Along with so many positive reviews made this a splurge I had to have. Poured neat, the nose is.....well its about perfect. Juicy fruits and creamy malt with balanced oak are ever present but in a restrained elegant way. There is no ethanol to speak of so dive right in there. Thick viscous mouthfeel lead palate of said sherry fruits and malt with seasoned oak and a nice twist of dark roast coffee peat. Its so succulent and smooth you question the abv. Finish is long and comforting. Warming with more malt and red fruits(starburst strawberry im going with) . The wood notes gently fade away never turning bitter. Absolutely superb scotch easily worth the $90 I paid.....94/100..........Now I need to talk myself into shelling out for the 18............Hello Alice Im coming, see you soon

@robertwayne64024 Yeah this stuff is killer. If you like sherried scotch as I do you will be very pleased with this gem
Great review Ct. I also like the 12---must look for this.
Dont know the year and bottle is long gone. It was so fantastic I cant imagine it dropping off too much and even the 12yr is great
@Ctrexman Do you know the year of your bottle? Look at the back bottom of the bottle. Their should be a laser code. I've been really thinking about grabbing this gem. Want to know if the 2019 version is worth it.
@WhiskeyLonghorn ....Thanks for the final push, this scoych was fantastic ...smoked my bottle too fast though. I will HAVE to get the 18yr now
Glad to see you pulled the trigger on this one!
@Soba45 i need to check mine out. That makes it easier...unlike those chaps at Springbank / Longrow. Great whisky from them, but a bunch of asses for making it so hard
@PBMichiganWolverine On the side of the bottle near the bottom. A lot easier to find than Longrow as they stamp it properly!
@Soba45 how can you tell the year?
@Slainte-Mhath Just got two more June 2018 bottles. Have yet to spot a 2019..you need to be careful with those as that is the cut over period so some in those year, most likely towards the end will be new Rachel Barry stock
@Anthology As Slainte_Mhath says below - the distillery was in silence from 1996-2001. Consequently for a few years the 18 yo had to contain whiskies that were older than 18 years. The batches from this year forward will most likely contain post 2001 stock, so the glory days of hyper-pumped Allardice are now over. Expect an insane feeding-frenzy on the secondary market (gad, what fools these mortals be).
@Soba45 define “old stock”
@Ctrexman I tried this on a festival and was rather disappointed. I loved the old version of GlenDronach 15 Revival, but things have changed a bit after Billy Walker left the distillery. I am probably a bit picky, and it is a nice sherried whisky, but the old batches were simply superb. You can't go wrong with the 18 yo Allardice, but check the bottle code and make sure it's a 2019 batch - then it's 24 years old (GlenDronach was closed 1996-2001)!
Grab an 18 whilst the old stock exists. Should be up to 24 years old by now :-)
