Number 2 at the Glendronach tasting tonight and man this was collectively judged not a good dram. Very plasticky, chemically. This was the most expensive at $600USD as well. Can't believe RB let this get out the door.
Update: Dramfest 2020. Ah crap another Glendronach master tasting and this showed up. Maybe not as plasticky but I think still they are trying to get rid of this crap...why bottle it? Luckily I also got to try the Grandeaur 24 yr and 25 year Master Vintages which saved the day but I'd be pissed if there were three of these...

@Soba45 a few years ago, American rye and bourbon offered good value over Scottish. Those are gone too now. Almost worse. But...red wine is getting cheaper from a glut of grape production
@PBMichiganWolverine I'm feeling old in my 5 yr whiskey journey already. I'm like man I remember when you could get a stunning bottle of 15 yr Revival GD or 14 yr virgin oak for $60USD, Ardbeg Uggie was better and cheaper, you could get a Yamazaki 18 or similar for a very reasonable price, the list goes on....and it was only 5 years ago! I think there is a lot more on offer these days but VFM wise several years ago leaves present day in the dust.
$120 for a 13 yr is ridiculous...but it’ll continue to happen, and increase, if people continue purchasing
@PBMichiganWolverine There were good older ones there as well, price points were bit stupid though. I suppose you could say the younger stuff is affordable but not VFM. $120USD for a 13 yr is taking the piss...i can get better for less. I bought a very nice PX bottle of SC 10 yr Benriach for $100 from the last tasting and even that was at the upper reaches of VFM. Price gouging time bought to you by Brown Foreman...gotta get a return on the few hundred mill i guess. Going fwd whilst not off my radar I'm definitely not going out of my way to try those two distilleries anymore.
So the younger affordable stuff is good...and the high end unaffordable not so good. I’m fine with that...
@Slainte-Mhath Yeah everything blended so far has been average to rubbish. For the top single cask all she had to do is pick a good one! She redeemed herself on the others though. In good news the young 13 years were great so good stuff is coming out of the post closure phase
@Soba45 Sounds like I am not the only one missing Billy Walker at GlenDronach. Rachel Barrie's influence on recent bottlings... well, mixed feelings. I think she is well-advised not to just copy BW's style but go her own way, but that has shifted GlenDronach into a new direction. Away from the heavy sherry monsters, to something more floral... and maybe feminine? Not sure what it is, but I am not a huge fan (yet).
