Ah man yet another great sample from VA.... thank you @LeeEvolved once again. Such a rich, oily balanced Ardbeg. A lot of the std stuff I have found has gone down hill these days Uggie etc just isn't the same and tasting older samples such as this prove it to me at least. In fact i'm an outlier in that I'm not a fan anymore or any of the std releases, 10, An Oa, Uggie etc. I much prefer the older bottlings, the pre 10, this, as well as the newer special releases the 19, Dark Cove, Kelpie (some are better than others). Only 3 drams in of my 12 dram set from LeeE... looking fwd to the rest!

@jonwilkinson7309 yeah I just didn't think it held a candle to 5 years ago when I first tried it. Others such as scotchharding would given their left testicle for a bottling of the old stuff so not just me it seems.
I agree with you about the core line, with the exception of the 10, which I still think is exceptional. The Uigeadail is one of my all time favorites, but I recently lost a full unopened bottle due to my clumsiness and I'm debating whether or not I should replace it.
@PBMichiganWolverine will have to keep my eyes open for these.
@PBMichiganWolverine Yeah knob creek is fantastic value for money especially in the stupidly priced bourbon mkt
@Scott_E @Soba45 There’s a few good VFM gems...but harder to come by. The North Star 11yr HP fully matured in sherry was only $40USD. The 15yr Knob Creek i had last week was great VFM as well
@PBMichiganWolverine @Soba45 Sad days these current times. High demand, lower quality seems to be current times.
@PBMichiganWolverine yeah I was thinking the same. The mkting dept is like "how do we upsell without pissing off our loyal customers"? I know we'll use the slowly boil the frog technique..deteriorate the quality on the std stuff and drive them towards our yearly fast fashion releases...
@Soba45 yeah, I’ve heard the new Uigi aren’t the same anymore as from years ago. Apparently less quality sherry casks. It’s one of my all time favorites, so I’m afraid to give the new ones a go, out of fear of disappointment
