Pours almost clear; there is a slight beige tint. Slight black pepper and vanilla on the nose. Taste is similar to the nose but with a light earthy (almost wood like) flavor added. The pepper takes a back seat to the vanilla. Light-medium mouthfeel and medium finish.
This is the 3rd bottle I've bought after two bottles from the highlands (El Tesoro Rep and Olmeca Altos Rep). The highland tequilas definitely have more sweetness and citrus notes going on where this flavor profile is more mellow. It is not light in flavor, it just does not "pop" like those other two.
Edit: This grew on me. I was somewhat prejudiced when trying this bottle, looking for that more citrus foward profile of the Highlands tequilas. After accepting that it won't replicate that flavor profile, I was able to appreciate it. That more mellow flavor works well in a sip session.
