Scotch newbie trying his first cognac
N: sour citrus, predominantly lemon, and overripe green grapes, with a slight undercurrent of sugar just on the edge of burning. If you've ever tried to deglaze a pan with lemon juice and accidentally let the lemon juice go just a bit too far, that plus the grapes. Definitely boozy, but not it a bad way.
P: extremely smooth. Extremely light. Surprisingly little flavor given the strong smell. I would believe this was 25% abv if I didn't know what it was. Caramelized sugar with hints of fresh grape and citrus, and maybe a little fresh cut grass. Not much else.
Finish: slick. Most of the flavor dissipates immediately but the caramelized sugars last a minute or so
