The nose is mild smoke, second wave is medicinal/Band-Aid stuff. There is a spicy/habanero heat in the nose that I wasn't expecting. It really stings the nostrils, in a good way.
The first taste is a surprising burn; it's a heat that delivers on the habanero promise in the nose. Smoked meat. It truly burns the roof of the mouth a bit, which is incredibly interesting.
This one definitely benefits from a drop of water to turn down the heat. The heat still slaps but is less harsh. The peat manifests this way in a muddy, boggy sense with just a touch of burn in the way down.
The finish is matchbox and smoldering fire. If you're not a fan of spicy/heat, you may not take a shine to this one. I, on the other hand, am fully on board.

@Ctrexman Yeah, I have no idea if the Mexican Coke makes any difference, but I really don't drink Coke on its own, so I just keep a few small glass bottles in the bar fridge so I splurge on the real sugar version instead of the corn syrup.
Ive done some of the smoke and coke too but with just regular coke. Cheap blended scotch goes good with root beer
@BDanner This is the info I needed today. 5:00 can't come soon enough
Well...the article where I got the recipe called for Lagavulin 16. No way I'm mixing that! But I wanted to try the cocktail, and I had this bottle of Select, so I used it instead. Wow. Really good. The smoke from the Lap and the sweetness of the Coke were perfect together. I don't do cocktails very often, but this is definitely one I really like.
@BDanner I feel like it would be a crime to mix this with anything but I will definitely try and give that a shot at least once!
Good! I hope it holds up. I've been making a great cocktail with this one (it's the cheapest peated I own) with Mexican Coke. Very good!
@BDanner Still ready to enter an official review (I usually wait until 2nd or 3rd sample of I have the bottle) but I absolutely loved it. Couldn't agree more they it'll stay in my rotation. I was worried based on reviews but I was crazy about it, at least at first try!
What did you think? It doesn't get much love, but at $15 less than the Lap10 I usually have a bottle on hand.
