Rum is not usually my first choice of dram, but there are some exceptions like Penny Blue. Foursquare brought some hype from my local supply depot so let's give it a try. Nose is sweet with no alcohol hints. First sip is a rush of heat and flavor. It's not often you sip a 120 proof dram let alone a 120 proof rum. Hints of butter toffee candies play off your tongue with some rounded pepper heat. Finish is a slow burn that softens to reveal more toffee notes. Overall this is a pretty spectacular rum. I could make an exception and drink this neat more often if it wasn't so hard to find. Trust me when I say buy this one on the spot. You won't be sorry!
