@PBMichiganWolverine p.s.: taste the last Velier bottle by Privateer in "Villa Paradisetto" line... real old american kill-devil rum ...
@PBMichiganWolverine In the world of spirits it was unthinkable to taste a Full Proof rum at 70 ° abv ... then Caroni appeared and everything changed ... I'm trying to buy as much as I can, but now in Europe Caronimania has exploded and business is impossible. The online wine shops speculate by limiting sales and postponing them over time and the only useful contacts are the high-end restaurateurs with constant consumption, through which to buy in the secondary market. Velier is now listed on the stock exchange and its 50,000 euro minibonds are guaranteed by Caroni's barrels. Good hunting...
@Giggio-Giggi I have about 6-7 unopened Caroni ‘s, including the Last. Normally I hate rum, just too sweet and one dimensional. But I had a pour of a Caroni, and fell in love with it. It’s anything but sweet and one dimensional. In fact, I think it’s better than most single malts
@PBMichiganWolverine No. Luca Gargano, the head of Velier, moved all the barrels to Europe, I think in France, where he collaborates with Maison du Whiskey, but then he transferred the rum into steel drums to block aging and not to corrupt purity and the traditional authenticity of the distillate. The Last is the last bottling that was made before the move. Currently any Caroni by Velier has an annual revaluation of at least 150% and Port Ellen is considered among the rums here in Europe. If you've never drunk it, I can't explain it to you ... but still buy a couple of bottles (beware of scams) and keep them for retirement ... if you need more info: [email protected]
@Giggio-Giggi so every Caroni after this would be UK aged ? This is the last of the Caribbean aged ?
@PBMichiganWolverine no: "the Last" is the last caroni full aged in tropics...1 year in tropic is about 4/5 year in scotland...think about all consequences for angel's share...after 20 years in the barrel tgere is only the 15% of original liquid, but the power and the taste are unique...
@PBMichiganWolverine no think the last general release. The next releases will be private employee releases
‘The Last” because it was from the last Velier casks?
