Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon

Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Reviewed April 2, 2015 (edited September 12, 2017)
3.0
3.0 out of 5 stars
3.5 - I generally don't drink much higher proof bourbon, but had to try this after hearing good things about this BIB. Nose is similar to Elijah Craig, but with a touch less smoke/wood (very nice). Palate is very similar to the nose, with carmel and cinnamon/baking spice and wood. A little water brings out more sweetness and spice. The tasting notes nailed the finish - smooth with a spicy bite. Overall, more characteristics of a mid-premium bourbon than a bottom shelf, only lacking some of the complexity that comes with more age. Considering the price, I'd give this 4+ stars. This is a keeper. I'm sure it will mix as well as it sips.

A couple more notes: neat, this tends to numb my lips... Also, this benefits from sitting awhile in the glass to let some of the alcohol nose dissipate.
