Very Old Barton 86 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Nose is banana, honey, vanilla and black pepper. Taste is watery and mild. Leads with a light honey sweetness and a little cherry flavor, hint of black pepper on the very back end...not getting much bitterness. Hard to pick out a whole lot of flavor with the watery character of this one. Palate has a lingering black pepper note that lasts for a medium length of time.

@BDanner it is a shame. I picked up 2 bottles in Chatham County. It leaves a lot to be desired, for $12 it's worth a pickup just to try to pick out flavors...I found them to be pretty hard to find in this bottle. I could get a sample of the 100 proof version once this social distancing breaks. I guess this will just be a bottle to switch to once you've had a few.
Unlike other states that get higher proofed versions of this, we in NC are stuck with the 86proof version. I keep meaning to review this one, and have the bottle right here to do it with, but just haven't. One reason is the watery character you mentioned. It just ruins the whole thing for me. It's usually around only $12 for a 750ml so I guess I shouldn't complain too much.
