On the nose I get wood with a soft sweet corn. On the palate it’s leather upfront with slight heat and then notes of rye bread. It has a nice medium weight to it and the finish is long with a pleasant floral and herbal spice.
Not the standard vanilla, caramel, cherry etc. bourbon flavor I’m used to. First couple drams I was not a fan, but once I get past my own expectations I appreciate it for the different flavor profiles and great weight and finish.
My scale:
1 - I’m giving this drink away
2 - I’ll mix it, but doesn’t stand on its own
3 - Enjoyable, but I’m willing to try something new
4 - Very good, If it’s on the shelf or menu - I’m buying
5 - Greatness Achieved, this drink is worthy of collecting
