It has a strong molasses smell with some salty smoked meat. It smells really strong and the scent wafts over the table. It has a substantially oily palate. There's some bit from the alcohol. The palate has a brown sugar or molasses flavor mixed with a huge amount of garlic. It's quite salty too. It kind of tastes like barbeque sauce with some vegetables, so maybe a vegetarian barbeque meal. It's interesting and complex and it avoids the usual failings, but the garlic flavor is just way too strong, even though it is enjoyably sauteed. I'm glad I tried this, but I wouldn't want to drink it again. It eventually has a bit of that usual light rum squash flavor, but it has a strong garlic presence with some barbeque sauce.
