Full with a nice balance of sweetness and bitterness backed by a rich undertone. Creaminess and caramel are clearly present at the front, as are fruit and spices. This is a lot like a spiced rum, but is way better than most of the garbage out there. Not too harsh. I just wish that the flavor developed a bit more, the sweetness were a bit less, and the wood did not jump in so much in the middle. Not as rich as Foursquare 2004 and also not as packed with alcohol.
The richness and lack of bad flavors really make this rum stand out. It has a lot of caramel but the abundant hogo really balances it out. Everything is in nice balance. There's a fair bit of banana that is under control, a big molasses note, and the hedonistic element just goes on and on. Some more complexity would be nice but it is drinkable as is.
The nose is very sweet and fruity with tropical scents that give a bit of a fruit roll-up vibe with a tad of sugar crystal. The palate is super sweet with moderate to full viscosity. It has tons of tropical fruit, with passionfruit, banana, and mango being prominent, alongside a tad of strawberry. It's smooth and creamy. There's a decent amount of oak that avoids being bitter and overwhelming. There's some butterscotch and brown sugar in the sweetness for sure. There's some spices like those in Plantation 20th, though they are relatively less pronounced. There's also a bit of herbal flavor, sort of like in a tequila or Jagermeister. It actually has decent complexity, but it's almost more of a digestif like Jagermeister is with its richness, herbalness, and sweetness. I'm leaving it at a 17 for now, but it might be an 18.
