On the nose you can smell the hypertension emanating from the glass, but holy heart attack did the sea salt burst through on the palate. After the savory start, heavily peppered venison seeps through a tad, while the smoke and iodine slaps the buds a bit on the finish.
Part of me thinks Talisker hopped the fence at Lagavulin, stole some of their 16-year whisky and added a pound of sea salt to each bottle. It’s Lagavulin: Coronary Edition. And that is a compliment for the wannabe Islay.
