I tried a fair few Balcones after the original founder departed and most were poop. Over pooped to be precise.. it's like they just turbo charged a couple of flavour elements and left the dram raw unbalanced and over cooked. Things started to get better with the French Oak release and this one has also matured nicely.
Now I'm not a fan of tequila flavour so couldn't drink to much of it but it is a well crafted whiskey. It's like a tequila and a virgin oak casked whiskey merged together. Thanks @PBMichiganWolverine!

@PBMichiganWolverine Ha yeah I definitely didn't want to combo those two!
In retrospect ...I’m so glad you had this and the Hibiki in different days. They are so polar opposites. One is nuanced, the other in-your-face.
Yeah, likewise—-I’m not really a fan of tequila (or rum...except for Caroni), but this was unique. It’s not a daily pour, nor an item to share when family come over—-but one of those that you have when you want something different
