This bourbon holds a special place for me like it does for many others. It’s the bourbon that opened up the doors of whisky and showed me what there was to explore.
I find this to be a fantastic example of a textbook bourbon. You get a sweet caramel forward palette with a slight undertone of crisp apple cider without the apple flavor. There’s a slight hint of oak on the finish, and the sweet vanilla and caramel flavor carry through to the end. While not a long finish, it invites you to repeat the cycle again and experience the flavors again and again over the course of a sitting.
