Initial nose on opening is dusty corn. If Mike Trout put an old cob of corn on the end of a baseball bat and hit you in the face with it like he’s in Game 7 of the WS with bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th 3-2 count and they throw a 99mph fastball right in the middle of the strike zone, it’s like that. Thankfully after being opened for a while that settles out quite a bit.
Taste - dusty corn, light barrel spice, vanilla, and not much else. The depth is lacking for a 14yr.
Finish: very slight hug, decent but unremarkable, short.
Overall I’d rather buy IW Harper 15 at $30-40 less and feel like I’m getting a much better bourbon at a much better price.
