As of now, the best whisk(e)y I have ever had. Complex, powerful and rich, with a slightly higher proof (45.8%ABV). I'm a big fan of peat monsters from Islay as well as malts with salty/maritime character, and Talisker straddles this line perfectly which I absolutely love. Briney, salty, peppery, leathery, slightly oaky, and quite peaty, although not as peated as a typical Islay single malt. Very viscous mouthfeel, almost like olive oil. There is also some cask influence, with a bit of green apple and brown sugar. Towards the finish, cask influence blends with the peat smoke to create a wonderful sweet tobacco note. A phenomenal dram, undoubtedly one of the best.
