Nose - Fruity Rye, with a little bit of vanilla. No ethanol on the nose
Taste- A lot of spices, it's a very big bomb of subtle spices, none of the spice notes are overbearing, they let you taste the bourbon-y notes.
Follow through- I really am a fan of the followthrough on this. The spices stay and turn into an oily feel and really coat the tongue and roof of your mouth really well. Stays around for a while. I think my favorite thing about this whiskey is it's mouthfeel.
I don't know why, but this tastes like Four Roses Single Barrel, but a rye version of it. Really impressed with this rye for the price! Will definitely be buying a full bottle next time I get the chance. It's smooth, any alcohol burn is nice feeling and not bitter or off putting. I had it neat and that was great, so easy to drink. I had it in an old fashioned
Overall, one of my favorite ryes I have tasted so far. It truly is a smooth whiskey, not to use a buzzword, but it really is balanced and there's no rough edges. I'm sure my rating will go up next time I drink it, but I'm really liking this
