Impressions @ 1/3 bottle:
Like other young sherried whiskies, the nose is cloyingly sweet. Aromas of golden raisins and dates dominate, but a nice wood spice emerges with time. The palate generally remains balanced as the initial burst of dried fruit is followed with the bitterness of black tea, the woodiness of cinnamon bark, and a very slight earthiness, similar to damp compost. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side and the finish is medium-long. If memory serves me, this improved substantially over the 8-9 months that this was open.
I enjoyed this, but Glendronach 12 is similar but better, and also better value, in my opinion.

@fomo Thanks for the comparison. I'll have to keep my eye open for a chance to try this.
@ContemplativeFox that’s a great question. I have not done a side by side, but I think I like this one better. My experience with A’bunadh was that it got a little muddled with water and wasn’t worth the price difference ($50 versus $80 for A’bunadh). This felt like a nice middle ground between A’bunadh and the 18 year, with more definition than the A’bunadh and more punch than the 18.
Hadn't even heard of this one before. Any idea how it compares with the A'Bunadh?
