A complex Whiskey that has a lot to offer. Winner of the 2016 best Whiskey Award.
My experience was similar to that of a highly awarded movie. A lot of hype, but does not always meet the individual viewers satisfaction.
On the nose; maple syrup! Some fruit - apple, pear with apricot come across. Some vanilla, and a bit of cinnamon.
On the palate: strong fruit notes (more so than I expected), some vanilla and caramel is tasted. The initial taste I find fruity with a nice maple note, however as you continue to drink it the maple disappears. It is a very easy drinking whisky with a smooth and sweet taste as it goes down.
The finish: I’ll be honest, I was a tad disappointed here... a bit of spice, smooth, sweet, and not much of a burn. Did not taste as much maple as I would have liked.
Enjoyable bottle, the ending just seemed to miss the mark for me. Felt like one of those “it was all a dream” the ending just does not seem to do it justice IMO.
