If the neighbours were bars in an alternative universe:
Laphroaig 10 is the bar that doesn't care; step through the door or don't, but if you do, you'll keep going back, because it's fun and exciting and it will take good care of you.
Lagavulin 16 is the trendy but classy one - red velvet and mirrors at the entrance, soft ambient lighting and plush leather wing chairs inside. You can spend hours in those armchairs and will always cherish the experience going back.
The third of the bunch, Ardbeg 10 is a beach bar. The evening's warm, colorful light bulbs are swinging with the gentle sea breeze which brings iodine and brine to the nose, there's soft folklore music playing in the back, someone's grilling the catch of the day and cool, sweet, salty and tarty cocktails are now being served with a slice of lemon.

@ContemplativeFox Thanks mate for putting up with my flights of fancy. CI12 is already reviewed, the 'peat kid' should be coming soon.
Great tasting @CKarmios . I'd be interested to read your descriptions of PC10 and CI12 if you ever decide to write them ;)
@fomo Yeah, there are those great values in every category that once you find, you kind of have to wonder why bother getting anything else.
@Benji-Robert much appreciated. Islay made me a better writer

@Rick_M Ha ha, I think you’re trying to hide your age. But make it 30 years ago and you’d be well spot on. How things have changed...
@CKarmios - it seems funny to read this. When I started drinking the smokies over 20 years ago, they were the doormats you wiped your feet on before you came into the bar. :)
@fomo Heh heh, you’re already rubbing off on me - yesterday’s Laing-inspired madness is slowly fading away
My disappointment in pricy special editions often stems from the extraordinary value in these core releases.
