We are on an enforced break as our floor boards are getting sanded and polished as part of our home renos so we popped over the hill to the Martinborough vineyard area to chill out for a few days. We visited a number of playgrounds and a number of vineyards (deal with kids they get what they want if we get what we want :-)). One place in the small town is a very old bank which was converted to a wine tasting place. 56 wines and several local gins. After hammering the various pinots and an enforced break to a kids playground nextdoor I got a free pass sans kids to try out the gins.
The name Reid + Reid comes from the fact it is two brothers who set up the operation. Very 2 dimensional - Pepper and juniper. Not unbalanced but not that intriguing. Sadly they only had FeverTree not East Imperial tonic. The former being IMHO a quite light slightly artificial tasting tonic compared to the rich robustness of EE.

@cascode Ah maybe start on the std tonic. It's a lot to get through if you don't like it though!
@cascode Ah i haven't tried their other experimental ones but the shiraz is yuuummmy!
@Soba45 I don't think we can get the mixed packs here. I've seen a lot of listing for packs of 4 but no-one has stock. For some reason all you can get is slabs of 24 bottles (not a dozen as I thought), and I think there are ony 3 types.
@Soba45 I've not tried their Bloody Shiraz. I like their Rare Dry, Modern Australian and Navy Strength gins, but having tasted some of their other experimental offerings, well - let's just say I much prefer their "normal" gin.
@cascode I've grabbed a bottle today of Roots gin from Elemental distillers here in nz which was very nice. Next purchase Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz another great gin from Yarra. You tried it?
@cascode Hmm that is a tough one. Really depends what flavour profile you like and what the flavour profile of the gin is too. I find myself moving between them a lot. Yuzu is nice and citrusy however if your gin is too then the citrus component becomes to much. The grapefruit one is yummy forever they recently had a recall due to batch issues (not safety related) so i can't get hold of it. Royal Botanical is lovely with a diverse flavour profile. They paired with Kew gardens in London to come up with the botanical recipe. The std one does well as a more versatile mixer. Choices choices! You can get a mix pack as well which allows you to sample all their goods. Not sure if you can import them?
Which East Imperial tonic is your favourite? I is available here and I'd like to try it, but I can only buy direct from the importer by the dozen.
