Not my first taste by a very long shot, but my first serious consideration in years. I like and regularly drink Makers 46, but I've not had any MM expression in more than a year. This taste from a 50ml bottle.
Tasted neat from a glencairn, the pour is brassy and there is little sheeting on a swirl.
The nose isn't great, IMHO. After a good rest I get a dose of vanilla, a bit of grass, a touch of butterscotch hard candy. On top of this is a medicinal ethanol note that is still detectable 10 minutes after the pour.
Mouthfeel is thin, but the flavor profile is solid. There's the sweet introduction, dry mid palate flirtation with barrel oak, grassy wheat (I'm really not a wheater fan, so I confess this bias), and a decent cinnamon/ginger finish.
This is okay. I could mix with this. I can see how it would be receptive to amari & liqueur. I'm not in love with it neat, where I miss the influence of rye.

Yeah, I'm a rye fan too. The wheater bourbons just don't usually do it for me.
