Nose: chocolatey and warm! Something on the nose that is unique to american whiskey that I'm working on trying to pick out. Just read that there is 12 Y.O. oloroso sherry in this whiskey, that's definitely what the scent is from. Vanilla extract, orange peel, and dark fruit as well. Taste 1: get a little bit of a rye spice that quickly fades and turns into a burnt sugar and caramel with orange and chocolate. Slight hint of leather. This is a straight up butterscotch bomb!! Yum! Nose 2: getting that chocolate orange candy. The one that is shaped like an orange but made out of chocolate. Not a ton of oak but it is present as the residual scent of a campfire. Taste 2: brown sugar and caramel, orange and pear. That butterscotch is quite strong. Very easy to drink. Received this as a gift from a friend and I am pleasantly surprised. This is a very unique type of whiskey, almost like a sherry cask finished bourbon but with a bigger punch and funk of the sherry. Would recommend to anyone looking for something a little different that they will enjoy.
