I picked this bottle up several months ago and I am now over halfway through it. I really like Bernheim so I thought I would give this a try to compare after hearing such good reviews.
N - Ethanol, a pleasant chemical aroma, malt and vanilla.
P - Dark fruit, citrus, spice, slight top of mouth heat. Vanilla candy without the sweetness.
F - Medium-short astringent finish. A bit of a bitter and lasting aftertaste comes in after the finish.
This is overall a good dram. It has lots of richness and diminsion. It coats the mouth well and is leggy and viscous. The only question is value. At $40, it seems a bit overpriced. However, there are very limited options for true wheat whiskeys. Given all this, I prefer the Bernheim. It has a 7 yr age statement and a sale price in NC of $25. It is also a bit more lively in the flavor department. WR Wheat is different enough that if Bernheim wasn't quite for you, then this is worth a flyer.

@Guitar_mann Wow, if your friend is trying to drive unwanted guests away with Eagle Rare, I think he may have miscalculated lol.
@Guitar_mann @BDanner Thanks for the tip about Bernheim! I've wanted to try a pure wheat whiskey off and on.
@BeppeCovfefe. I would have loved to see the look on the guy's face behind the counter! LOL. One of my friends took half of a handle of Eagle Rare back to the store and told them, " hey...this stuff is awful!"...They said..."I'm sorry...we don't accept returns on opened bottles." He keeps it to serve to unwanted guests! lol.
So far the only "bad" bottle of Woodford I've gotten, I even took the bottle back to the store half finished, it's funny how some of these just don't measure up. Some barrels are clearly better than others.
I found it interesting that Woodford added the rye in there to go with the corn and malt. A very unique mashbill. I’ll second your vote for Bernheim at $25 all day long.
