Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland

Off memory from a side-by-side tasting with Lasanta 12yr in Vegas last year Light and fruity notes on the nose and palate that can best be described as indistinguishable from a crowd of fruity single malts. I thought it was a tie with the Lasanta in terms of head-2-head rating, albeit on different profiles. I’ll revisit my review notes at a future date upon cracking my bottle. Also planning to do a side-by-side with the QR 14yr old. Cheers!

@Anthology Yeah, it was like a whole different whisky. I really thought that the 14 would have been painfully sweet after 4 years in ruby port, but IIRC it was a richer fruitiness with some added complexity and less mint chocolate. I also experienced the QR12 as much drier than most people have said, so it's possible I was having an off day and they're quite similar.
Me thinks the gentleman doth make a valid point
@ContemplativeFox seems 2 extra years in cask made all the difference(?) @CKarmios one SbS coming up...in the near future! Although it seems to already be a mismatch going in. Hmmm, should I even bother? Dost appear to be an exercise in futility.
@CKarmios Yeah, I didn't much like the QR12, but the 14 is quite good!
Never tried it, mainly due to the poor experience with the Lasanta. Having said that, I hear good things about the upgraded Quinta Ruban 14 year old, so yes, SbS should be in order.
