I’ve recently had (and loved) both Russell’s Reserve offerings and I’d heard a lot of great things about Wild Turkey 101. Time to give it a shot. And guess what? It’s really good! All the flavors I love in Russell’s Reserve, particularly the single barrel, are in the 101 - just less refined as you would expect. That beautiful cinnamon/orange/oak/turkey funk is here for $18 a bottle or $30 for a handle. Incredible value. Not as good as the SiB of course, but a fraction of the price. This has to be permanently stocked in my bar as the VFM king. I’m officially a Wild Turkey fan.

@Skymecca Yeah, it sounds too good to be true when you say it that way 😂
@ContemplativeFox The Rare Breed is next on my list and I can’t wait to try it. Forty five bucks for barrel proof that is available virtually anywhere with no hunting? And assuming it shares a lot of 101 and RR DNA (and how could it not when it is all the same mash bill, just different strength and ages), how could I not enjoy it?
I totally agree. It's hard to find anything this cheap that is so good, especially something that is good enough to sip but also holds up well in cocktails. I'm a big fan of the Rare Breed 116, though it's more challenging than Russell's, so I can understand anyone who doesn't enjoy it.
