Figuring I enjoy the higher rye content of the Four Roses products, I thought I’d dabble into the barely legal rye’s. This was my first rye whiskey and I thought it was just okay so it’s not necessarily the rye I enjoy in my bourbons but rather that Four Roses makes products I really enjoy. Regardless, I’m looking forward to trying some more barely legal rye whiskey. I’m sure there’s some bangers out there. This is good - just fine.

@BDanner I’ll have to keep an eye out for the OF rye. Doesn’t seem to be too common here in Ohio. But the Rittenhouse is definitely on my list to try! Thanks for the recommendation!
@ContemplativeFox Rittenhouse is definitely on my short list to try. Thanks for cementing the recommendation!
I’ll second the Rittenhouse and Pikesville. I’d also suggest Old Forester. It’s the one I pick up when cash is tight. It drinks way better than its $20 price tag. And like many other OF/Woodford products, they usually throw a curveball into the mashbill by making the barley the second grain and relegating the corn to third in the pecking order.
I was pretty disappointed after opening my bottle of this after enjoying it at a bar. I also finished off a bottle of Eagle Rare that had been sitting 1/3 full on the shelf for over a year and found that my new bottle was not nearly as good. My conclusion is that this will probably get a lot better with some time to oxidize. In fact, my bottle of Sazerac has already improved somewhat :) For other barely legal ryes, I'd suggest giving Pikesville a try (or Rittenhouse if you want the entry-level version of it). It seems like most people enjoy it.
