A true “fruit bomb” with pear, red apple, and plum dominating the caramel undertones. Got a whiff of oak upon opening the bottle, but not detecting any on the nose.
Thin and watery on the palate—not surprising given the proof—with fruit dominating.
Finish is non-existent (again, not a surprise based on proof), but drinks incredibly smooth—no water needed.
I can find bottles in my area with regularity (I’m looking at you, Buffalo Trace), and at $27-$30 a pop, it’s truly one of the best at that price range, especially at 8 years old. Not great for mixing as it doesn’t hold up in cocktails, but it’s a great everyday sipper.
Would love to taste a barrel proof of this juice.
