Nose - pineapple, vanilla cream, orange and lemon zest, honey, grass, mild peat, rotting wood, rubber band, moderate ethanol burn.
Taste - sour apple, salted toffee, orange creamsicle, chocolate, tannic oak, honey, grass, mild peat smoke, citrus zest, moderate alcohol bite, finishing medium length with bitter wood, sour fruit, and toffee flavors.
This is much less enjoyable than the 12 year. You can definitely taste the influence from the bourbon barrels, particularly with the caramel and vanilla notes. While there are some nice flavors here, they are overwhelmed by a sourness and bitterness that dominate the palate.

Interesting, @Benji-Robert . I tried mine at a bar so I have no idea how long it had been open :(
@Benji-Robert That’s good to know. Mine was a 50ml sample, so I wasn’t able to let oxidation do its thing for long.
I wasn't won over but will say it improved after I drank almost half and let it sit for a couple weeks.
I think that's the difference in price for me too @ctbeck11 I might try a bottle of Magnus if the difference hit $20, but that would still require the 12 to be at least 50% more expensive
@ContemplativeFox Completely agree. Where I’m at, the 12 is only $10 more than the Magnus. No brainer.
I agree: the 12 is definitely worth paying up for.
