Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland

(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Premium Whisky Tasting, 27 November 2020).
Nose: Sherry, dark fruit, sultanas, orange, brown sugar, aromatic spices
Palate: Stewed fruit, orange, ginger, chocolate, black pepper, light wisps of smoke
Finish: Sherry, light oak, red chilies, Christmas cake. Nicely sours at the very end. Medium long finish.
This is a lovely dram. It suffers from a slightly thin mouthfeel, but it's a minor niggle.
Came joint second of the six whiskies, with 17% of the final vote for favourite of the night. (65% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky). This was my vote for favourite, but it was a really close call between most of them.

@malt_muser I’ve been a fan of Benromach for a while, they tend to produce really solid whiskies across their range. The standout for me is definitely the 15y/o when you take price into account. The full list from this particular tasting was: Benromach 21y/o Dram Mor Tomintoul 2005 15y/o The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch 6 Cragganmore 20y/o (2020 special release) Arran Private Cask 12y/o Longrow 21y/o (2020 release)
Sounds fantastic. I’m a rapidly growing fan of Benromach. Which other whiskies were in the tasting?
@Jan-Case It’s a great dram. It has a lovely quality feel to it. I’m not sure it warrants the price difference from the 15y/o, but definitely worth a taste!
I am so much looking forward to trying this since I really love the new 15y.
