This is my first pleated whisky. I got the smaller bottle since I’m not sure if I will like it. It’s by far the most complex whisky I have tried. The first opening notes are smoked meat, bacon, and then the peat comes through. I finally know what is peat scent! To me it’s not u pleasant, but unique. Then sweet scents like fruits and even dessert comes in, it’s a but hard to tell underneath the peat. In the mouth is where things get interesting. It’s quite sweet, and smooth, I can detect toffee or cream, with a hint of floral, but that peat follows you the entire time, not overwhelming, but it’s definitely there. It’s quite smooth and some spin dines kicks in after swallowing. Interesting. I will need to come back to it to see how I feel about this one over time.

Talisker 10 was my first true peated single malt as well. I was blown away after tasting this and didn’t realize I had been missing out on such wonderful aromas and flavors all my scotch years. Enjoy the peat journey.
