350th review - didn't even plan this one to be an epic pour.
I have a feeling this is the right whisky but the abv is wrong on this one. This is the 2020 release and their first standard 25 year release. I've had this open for a bit and finally getting around to review. I also have found Arran needs a few weeks to open up and I think we're good now.
Nose - Red berries and a distinct bitter bite that reminds me almost of an irish pot still. Fruity jams that have sat in salt water with light hints of pastry and chocolates.
Taste - This is just rich jam meets savory steak with fruity chocolate candies. The abv is perfect on this, warming rich, creamy mouth feel, I've never had a 46% whisky this rich and creamy. What's amazing is that everywhere on my tongue gets activated, and fully activated. Just swilling it around I'll notice even areas I rarely notice, almost puckering with intense notes from sour to sweet to savory. This is a complete tasting experience.
This is absolutely jaw dropping.
My only real complaint? Well the box won' close so it's worthless, couldn't even sand it down to fix it.
4.75 it's one of the best whiskies I've ever had.

Great review sounds awesome. Im really liking Arran lately and Im only drinking the cheap stuff
$330 is a bit spendy for me, but for a 25 YO of this quality? I'll need to be on the lookout. Excellent notes and congratulations on 350!
I am very jealous. I hope I will be able to get my hands on a sample soon. I have and like the 21y quite a bid but already heard from various sources that this supposedly quite different. I already have two different Explorer Series bottles which both are 21y as well but those will have to wait until Christmas to be opened. but Arran for sure is something to keep on the radar.
@PBMichiganWolverine 330 for a 25 year is high? But good luck, 1100 bottles I believe which is why nobody can get me a replacement box, which sucks as the box is really nice. But yeah this is one of those whiskies that I'd say defines the profile of scotch as a whole. There's just everything in it. I might be over rating it as I was very close between as 4.5 or 4.75
4.75 from you is noteworthy. I need to keep an eye out for this one...maybe as a sample since that price seems quite high
