I'm prepared to swap you a half-full bottle of Highland Black, a naggin of Jameson, and my Celtic Whiskey Club badge, all for your paltry little discontinued bottle of BenRiach Curiositas 10yo.
Do we have a deal?

Scotch Deathmatch Final:
BenRiach Curiositas 10yo versus Old Pulteney 12yo
It’s a close run thing but we have a winner. The Benster beats the Old-timer. I’m a sucker for peat and ash and this is smokin’
Thus endeth the lengthy contest, and verily Curiositas doth smite them all!

The unbearable angst of a whiskyphile. I have too large a backlog of samples and miniatures to go through and making a decision on what to drink next is hard. Like choosing the right footwear in the morning I flip flop. So, I selected sixteen scotch whiskies that are 12yrs or younger or NAS to battle it out in a Scotch Deathmatch. It’s my incentive to lighten the logjam. Follow along if you care (and really why should you?). Oh the drama!

@Ctrexman yea, you had me sussed. Saw your review too. It’s a good one.
Told ya...lol......I just finished up a bottle of this and agree with you completely
@WhiskeyLonghorn you’re probably right. Here in Ireland I ordered it online and it was the older Curiositas that arrived rather than the newer, which would indicate it hasn’t been shifting quickly
@CKarmios the Great Unwashed. Nothing planned so for everyone here that’s the Great Escape 😀
Still a ton of these sitting on the shelves gathering dust over here in the states. I bought a bottle thinking it was going away soon, but I still have yet to see the new core line appear. Hoping to snag another bottle of this on clearance when those do show up!
So what next for the Great Organiser? or is it the Great Promoter (surely not the Great Pretender)?
the weird fruity speyside with peat and bourbon caskings combination really does give this one a special edge in tasting.
@Jan-Case thanks. I had Kilkerran 12 delivered earlier this month so I might get a chance to compare at some stage next year.
Nice championship you had going there. I enjoyed following it over the last weeks. I’m happy that the Curiositas won of course but for its sake I’m glad the Kilkerran 12y wasn’t part of this tournament - because that one would have probably crushed everything. It would be interesting though to know how it would have competed with the Curiositas.
