Pops' Famous Brand Blended Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Canada

Opening sniff is straight up summer circus. Cotton candy, light caramel, extreme dose of vanilla and clearly, a heavy amount of oak.
As for the taste, well, maybe I’m just not the ideal customer, but there’s one primary characteristic here: sweet. Heavily sweet. But not a good sweet, nothing reminiscent of some rich sugary source. It’s as if I’d accidentally spilt a dropper of stevia into the glass. It’s cloying, and it dominates everything. Then comes the ethanol. That’s pretty much it. There’s no middle game, no fruit, no lingering finish. It’s oaked candy corn at 42% ABV.
There’s next to no nuance here. Maybe I’m far too removed from the Canadian style whisky game but this seems overbearing even for those standards. And I can think of a billion other better things to taste at $27.
Pass on this.
