Although the Teeling family sold Cooley to Beam in 2011, they kept some barrels for their own use. That’s exactly what they’ve done with this release.
Available beginning March 2018, this vintage single malt from Teeling was distilled at the Cooley Distillery in 1983. It matured in American ex-bourbon barrels for 34 years. Bottled at 40.9%, only 43 bottles were created.
Availability limited to the US. Suggested retail price $5000.
Longrow Red is a single malt that Springbank releases annually, each year with a different red wine finish and bottled at cask strength. The release for 2018 finishes its last 2 years of maturation in cabernet franc wine casks from De Toren Private Cellars in Stellenbosch, South Africa. It spent its first 9 years in ex-bourbon bottles.
Bottled at 55.9% ABV. Longrow is the heavily-peated line of whiskies from the Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown.
Suggested retail price £55 (~$77)
The single barrel batch for 2018 comprises of bourbon whiskey aged for 5.5 years in the company’s rickhouses in Wyoming. As in previous releases, this batch represents the top 1% of their stock. Each barrel was hand-selected for overall quality and flavor profile. They use a mash bill of 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley. All grains are locally sourced and are non-GMO.
Suggested retail price $59.99.
Casamigos is launching a joven mezcal, which will hit shelves beginning April 2018. It is made from 100% espadín agaves from Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca. These agaves are split and placed in an earthen pit lined with volcanic rocks heated by oak wood fire where they cook for 4-6 days. The cooked agaves are crushed by a horse-pulled stone tahona and the resulting aguamiel is allowed to ferment for 2-8 days. After double-distillation, the mezcal rests for 30 days before bottling at 80 proof.
Designed by Gerber, the hand-crafted black matte bottles used for this release are baked in a 190-degree oven, each one unique. This joven is the first in the Casamigos mezcal range with additional bottles planned to join the portfolio.
Available in the US, UK, and Australia. Suggested retail price $60.
Created by Master Distiller Desmond Payne, Pink uses the standard Beefeater London Dry Gin as a base with natural strawberry flavor added post-distillation. This will be introduced first to twelve countries in March 2018, including the UK and Spain, with additional countries to follow shortly after.
Suggested retail price £20 (~$29)
