It’s been another action-packed week in the whiskey world. Jefferson’s just released a brand spanking new Presidential Select bottling—this one double aged in American oak. Launching this month, Laphroaig has a new limited edition 27-year-old whisky for those looking for an older Islay release. Also, Kilchoman has a pair of single malts for you, both available for a limited time. All this and more in the booze news for the week of October 30, 2017!

Jefferson’s Presidential Select 16 Year Twin Oak 5 Years

Jefferson’s sourced this Kentucky straight bourbon from an undisclosed distillery. The whiskey is aged initially in new, charred American oak before being re-barreled into new, charred American oak barrels for its last five years of aging. Aged a total of 16 years, this bourbon is 94 proof. Only 10,000 bottles produced. Available beginning early November 2017. Suggested retail price $199.99.

Remus Repeal Reserve Straight Bourbon

This limited edition release hits shelves beginning mid-November 2017. The straight bourbon’s name refers to George Remus, the “king of bootleggers”. The whiskey will launch with a series of events leading up to Repeal Day on December 5th.

It is a blend of high-rye bourbons all distilled at MGP in Indiana. These bourbons are as follows: 50% 2005 bourbon with 21% rye; 15% 2006 bourbon with 36% rye; and 35% 2006 bourbon with 21% rye. Bottled at 47% ABV.

“Remus Repeal Reserve is our most complex release to-date, and you can taste it in the glass,” says Andrew Mansinne, Vice President of Brands, MGP Ingredients. “It starts out on the palate with sweet, buttery toffee, and gives way to spicier rye, raisin and fig, and then comes back full circle. That layering of flavors stems from the talent of our distillery team to weave multiple mash bills into a beautifully smooth style intended for sipping and pure pleasure.”

Suggested retail price $74.99.
