Best Maple Whiskeys to Try
Maple whiskey can take many forms, from cask finishing in syrup-soaked barrels to carefully blended maple infusions. At its best, maple adds warmth and richness without overwhelming the whiskey, bringing notes of caramel, toasted sugar, and spice that feel familiar to bourbon and rye drinkers. These bottles also work beautifully in simple serves, whether poured over ice or stirred into an easy hot toddy.

5The seventh release in the Barrel Finishing Series uses finishing casks from Grand Rapids, Michigan that previously held late-harvest maple syrup. For this release, they used a combination of two bourbon recipes: SB076, a four-grain, three-malt mash bill featuring two types of aromatic malt, and the distillery’s signature Barrel 91 recipe. After spending a year in the maple syrup casks, the whiskey was bottled at 95 proof. Available in limited quantities beginning August 2025. (SRP $59.99)
