Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 9, 2023 (edited February 5, 2024)I believe this is one of the finest low-rye non-wheated products on the market. It's strong corn-dominate, barrel-proof bourbon with sweet molasses notes front to back carried by the corn but toned down by the bite. It's a solid pour that isn't too hard to find but is worth every penny. -
Barley overwhelms the front and sweet corn finishes - aging is overwhelmed by the blend with only the strongest flavors coming through. Too harsh for Canadian, too bitter for Bourbon, too sweet for Scotch, it's just a unique flavor profile and nothing else. I imagine and American barley whiskey mixed with a strong-corn bourbon would approximate the same taste.
