Old Charter Oak Mongolian Oak (2018 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 26, 2019 (edited July 17, 2019)I'm not generally a big bourbon fan (I love my ryes and islay scotch) but saw this earlier today and decided to pick it up. A new offering from Buffalo Trace, aged 10 years in barrels made from the "Quercus mongolica" oak trees in Mongolia that apparently persevere in tortuous weather conditions. Vanilla notes on the nose and with the first sip, it's very light. Vanilla, raisins, burnt sugar on the finish. It's a lovely drink. Cannot believe it's a bourbon. I'm somewhat new to articulating what I like about whisky but have been drinking a great deal of them for the last 6 years. Pardon the review but I know what I like and this is superb.69.99 USD per BottleSpec's Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods -

WhistlePig 15 Year Estate Oak Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed October 15, 2018 (edited August 23, 2020)Not sure if I have a bad bottle or what but it's smooth when first drinking but I get extremely strong leather notes that nears "skunk" by the end and just stays. Just skunk. Like roadkill skunk. You know that smell? That's what I'm getting when I'm tasting this bottle. Absolutely terrible. I'm really disappointed I spent $300 for this bottle. I felt so strongly, I actually went online to see if anyone had the same experience and after reading the last several reviews here, I decided to give my own experience. never again. want my money back300.0 USD per Bottle
