Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 28, 2018 (edited July 5, 2018)Found a new favorite with this one. The nose makes me think of cherry jam, vanilla, and leather mixed with a decent amount of ethanol. The palatte is Heavy tobacco, leather, more cherry, and this almost herbally menthol thing with smoke. The finish is long and smooth, with more tobacco and leather with the menthol/herbal essence. I really enjoy this, and I really appreciate the uniqueness of this bourbon. At 115 proof it's a big and interesting pour! 4.75 stars -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 12, 2018 (edited March 22, 2018)One of the best I've ever had. My bottle is the C917 batch. On the nose I smell what reminds me of my grandma's cherry pie, and lots of leather. The nose is full and rich. The palatte is full of classics, heavy leather, heavy tabacco, vanilla, and some orange. It has a heavy and thick quality. Finish is heavy oak, good spice, more vanilla. It's a long finish. I've been hunting for this for a while now, so glad I landed a bottle.
