    An unusually gentle scotch that has only subtle hints of the smoke and brine that make so many of its peers a challenge for some drinkers. Its malty richness makes it a great compromise pour for a group split on whether or not to have scotch at all.

    One of three scotch whiskeys I both love enough and can afford to always keep at the ready in the cabinet. It takes up the "herbal" position of the triumvirate (along with "smokey" and "malty"). Word is that it has been toned down in recent years. Still a winner.

    I am without much frame of reference for quality sipping rums, but I found this very pleasant. Tastes lighter in alcohol than it is and remains subtle in its rich vanilla/caramel goodness. The spice is all up front. Smooth wood and molasses in the middle. Dry dessert flourishes on the finish. Recommended.

    Not an inexpensive drop by any means, but price aside, it is a smooth, rich whiskey welcome in my cabinet any day. Never had anything close to the musty feet vibe reported here by some. Very good, if expensive-ish sipping whiskey.

    Love the balance it maintains. All things in moderation, this one. I can just let a healthy drop roll around on my tongue without excessive burn or smoke. A must for any home bar.

    Very late arriving smoke in an opening profile sweetened with vanilla. A healthy splash of water is enough to keep the burn down. Probably a very good entry level scotch for those not yet sold on the premise.
