Belle Meade Cask Strength Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed September 23, 2020Delicious, complex, sweet with herbaceous notes of dill and baking spices. Compares favorably to much more expensive bourbons. A hidden gem which I will buy again. I see that they have changed it for future releases from cask strength to a somewhat lower proof. I just hope they haven’t sacrificed any of the quality present in this version.59.99 USD per Bottle -
New Riff 4 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 16, 2020 (edited August 17, 2020)Pleasantly surprised. Vanilla, spiciness, some herbal notes. Quite drinkable despite its relatively high proof. Premium Liquor Store Selection, Buffalo NY. -
Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 16, 2020 (edited October 21, 2024)Stunning rye value for the price. Complex combination of herbal flavors (dill, mint), baking spices (cinnamon, clove), and bourbon sweetness (caramel, vanilla). High proof but sippable, takes a splash of water or cube of ice well. Will buy again and again.49.99 USD per Bottle -
I don’t know what happened to my bottle, but this is awful. Almost nondiscernable flavor... very weak vanilla, no spice, slight generic ETOH. I’m really disappointed after all the incredible reviews, both here on Distiller and elsewhere. Obviously something has changed in a BIG way. I won’t give this another chance... it’s the second worst, most watery rye I’ve tasted.

Batch 015. Very disappointing for price. No sweetness, mild spice, what little flavor there is is overwhelmed by ethanol burn. I’ve read batches fluctuate drastically in taste and this batch is known to be one of their weakest, but I’d be very unlikely to give this another chance.65.0 USD per Bottle
