Tastes

Rough very rough. Heavy sweet nose. Brings to mind corn syrup. Slightly oily mouth feel. HEAVY vanilla and cherry notes and nothing else. Extremely quick finish with kind of a weird after taste.

Nose: Sweet, notes of candied cherries, cinnamon, maybe subtle hints of milk chocolate. Neat: Smooth almost silky mouth feel, very charred oak forward, candied cherries, cinnamon on the back, medium finish that is warming. On the rocks: Milk chocolate, candied cherries, with hints of ground black pepper towards the end, the charred oak is greatly diminished, finish is much quicker.

Neat: Heavy oak from the bourbon barrels, vanilla, and crushed black pepper undertones of peat on the nose. First taste salty, with a light peat cloyingly in the back. Fairly one dimensional. Smooth medium finish with a slight burn. Second taste. Much more peat forward, giving way to a mild sweetness, slightly more complex. Third taste. Very similar to the second taste but with fresh red cherries and a hint of vanilla. On the rocks. The nose gives way to more peat as the bourbon barrel begins to take a back seat. First taste. Peat and oak from the bourbon barrel is much subdued, with notes of salted chocolate coming through, very quick finish. Second taste. Peats are almost gone, and the salted chocolate has given way to a more salted caramel. Third taste. At this point, probably due to the dilution the peat is completely absent, and I'm left with a pleasantly sweet refreshing dram good for a hot July day.

Alcohol and oak on the nose. True oak notes on the taste, quick finish. Very little sweetness. Overall a unique and pleasant dram.
